Success in international trade requires skills in entrepreneurship and in other areas such as languages, law, politics, economics and customs of business abroad.
Some knowledge in particular must be promoted in international trade. We already know by definition that entrepreneurship involves calculated risks and the same applies at the international level. More often than not, the experience gained in the domestic market does not apply abroad. International trade requires the contractor preparation and careful planning. Therefore, we must pay special attention to market research, understand consumer needs and take account of different cultures. We must also master the terminology of international trade, what documents are required to know the relevant regulations and control the machinery of trade finance, insurance and transportation systems.
The ability to design and implement a strategy for penetrating foreign markets is also important.
Some aspects of running a business, once considered as not being part of the marketing function are now recognized as essential to counter the competition. Thanks to good logistics management, the goods are delivered to consumers in the best conditions, as soon as reasonably possible and at reduced cost. Communication systems affect the company's ability to respond to the needs expressed by customers, as well as the cost and reliability of service. A good quality management will enable the company to maintain or expand its market share while maximizing profits.
Many entrepreneurs get their thrive by offering management exports services or by investing in products exported. Others go into areas that have the highest growth and the export of consulting services in the areas of investment, engineering, public relations and accounting. Regardless of their form of involvement, all participants in international trade need to understand the role their activities throughout the export process and how they help to strengthen the competitiveness of their origin country on foreign markets.
The scope of export activities goes beyond the simple trade, export management or production of goods; many other professionals are also involved. For example, exporters need logistics services that can provide carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, insurers, messengers, buyers, as well as managers of supply and claims. The demand for these services will increase by 25% over the next 10 years.
